DASS2 Converter: Purchase and Use
When does it make sense using the Parlay DASS2 Protocol Converter?
The most relevant arguments to consider are the following:
- By using the Parlay Protocol Converter you extend the lifetime of your DASS2 telephone system.
- By using the Parlay Protocol Converter you migrate smoothly to the new Euro-ISDN telephone system. There is no need to switch from DASS2 to Euro-ISDN over night or over the weekend. Both systems – the DASS2 and the Euro-ISDN system – run in parallel on the Parlay Protocol Converters.
- By using the Parlay Protocol Converter you avoid the delays associated with the conversion of your DASS2 line to Euro-ISDN. Lead time for converting a DASS2 line to Euro-ISDN is 20 working days, but in reality it often takes twice the time.
- By using the Parlay Protocol Converter your initial investment in a new PABX is limited. Expand the number of extensions in your new phone system step by step, as they disappear from the DASS2 system.
Please find more information regarding the usage of Parlay Protocol Converter by referring to the Parlay-DASS2-Application document.

What happens to the Parlay Protocol Converter after I have scrapped my DASS2 PABX? Can the Parlays be used for other things than protocol conversion?
The Parlays are extremely versatile units. They can offer a number of applications, which may be of your interest. Here a few examples.
- Parlay as Call Back Server.
Parlay saves the roaming charges when using your mobile phone abroad. An automated call back application on your phone handles the call back flow. You only need to dial the phone number desired; everything else will be done automatically.
- Parlay as Mobile Phone Integrator.
Mobile phones of all employees are integrated into the company’s phone system. An incoming call rings the DDI number and the mobile phone in parallel. Call Transfer from the mobile phone to any other number is supported.
- Parlay as Conference and Message Distribution Server.
Up to 24 members may join a conference, or share 4 conference rooms.
- Parlay as Message Distribution Server.
In this application, Parlay distributes a single signal source to 119 recipients. The recipients listen to the audible signal simultaneously (Listen-only Conference).
